Welcome!

I am Guilherme Ramos, a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at Vanderbilt University. I earned my Ph.D. in Business Administration (Behavioral and Decision Sciences) from FGV/EBAPE, with a visiting appointment at the Psychology Department of the University of Colorado Boulder. I also hold an M.Sc. at FGV/EBAPE and a B.Sc. in Economics at FGV/EPGE.

I am a consumer psychologist who studies pressing societal challenges, including political polarization, climate change, public health, and social inequality. My research demonstrates that predictable psychological tendencies and distinct moral beliefs frequently prevent consumers from thinking and acting in ways that would achieve better societal outcomes. Specifically, I study: (a) how marketing tools can be used to address political polarization, (b) how inattention to relevant attributes can lead consumers to make sub-optimal consumption judgments and decisions from a societal standpoint, and (c) how heterogeneous moral values shape consumer decision making. My work has been accepted for publication or invited for resubmission at leading outlets, such as  the Journal of Consumer Psychology, the International Journal of Research in Marketing, the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Nature Communications, and the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied, and received the Brenda M. Derby Award from the AMA Marketing and Public Policy Conference.

On a personal note, I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Like many cariocas (people born in Rio), I am passionate about soccer, samba, and food, especially when shared with others.
